Totally Random and I Love It!

Hi Friends!

I've been having a hard time trying to find my voice as a blogger. Does anyone else feel like they HAVE to use complete sentences and paragraphs? I'm in an English student mindset. I gotta let it go, let it go, let it go.

I want to find my voice. I'm trying this whole free writing thing I learned in school. Maybe it will be great. I'm afraid that right now I'm making errors and its driving me crazy. I'm not even looking at the screen (bad ass). I just turned to Trevor and told him that I'm doing a writing exercise. Which I am. Why not call it that?

I got a little crazy and jumped into another window. That would have been pretty shitty if I would have just continued typing into a random amazon.com page (not supposed to be looking). I love amazon.com. You can friggin buy anything and they send it to you. One click shipping? Done. I hate filling that shit out. And then if you make a mistake or need to make a change and accidentally refresh the page or god forbid press the "back" button... I hate typing in my address more than absolutely necessary.

But yes. Having a hard time finding my voice. The more I read others blogs the more I dislike my voice. Boo. I just ask that you please please bear with me while I'm figuring this all out. Thank you!!!

PostScript: I did take the time to edit this before I showed everyone. Because, c'mon. Its like common decency to have correct capitalization and use of their, there, and they're.

Life Lately feat. THE Potato Burrito

Hi Friends!

When do you read my blog? I'd love to know! I was just thinking about how to open this post. I wanted to ask how your Thursday is treating you, but then I thought, "what if my reader JUST woke up, and checking her GFC feed, or what if its late at night?!" These are the things I think about people! :) So yeah, if you could let me know I'd love it.

Anyway. Trev, Kathy, and I went to see the Theatre Guild perform Quilters by Molly Newman and Barbara Damashek. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but these ladies put on a fabulous show! There were some awkward moments. The cast squealed on stage about their first period, and while poor is Trevor sitting next to me just dying. Or when they focused on death and miscarriage in the middle of a musical. That was confusing. But it was also 1800's. Life so vastly different than we know today. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the glittering humor through out the performance.

Now. The true reason I've called you here today. I would like to present to you one of my favorite foods... THE POTATO BURRITO!!!111one

The world famous potato burrito featuring battered, deep-fried potatoes with beans, cheese, and Casa’s own red chili cream (aka potato burrito sauce)
Its pretty amazing. Needless to say I had to take half home...

...and finished it before the end of this post. Its nice to treat yourself!

What is your guilty pleasure food?

Lookie What I Made

Hi Friends!

So I finally, FINALLY, sat down and did some CRAFTING! My hands are def feeling the effects of yarn-balling and wreath wrapping but its all so worth it. :)

The entire project cost about $7. With fall wreaths upwards of $19.99 this is definitely a great deal. Trev wants me to start selling them at holiday bazaars. We'll see... What do you think?

xoxo.

I'm a Liebster!

Kaylynn ZoeMichelle, AND Brandi nominated me for the prestigious Liebster Award!

I am overjoyed (should I be?)!! I kind of want to go do some cartwheels in the front yard, but I don't want to go OVERBOARD.

11 Things:

  1. I participated in a traveling youth circus for three months after I graduated high school. We went all over the pacific northwest, even into Canada.  For a country bumpkin like me, this was a BIG DEAL. One of the best summers of my life.
  2. I was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2009 a complication of PCOS.  I had a total hysterectomy in January of 2010. I was 26. I always knew I was going to be ok. There was no question in my mind when it came down to treatment. My life was(is) more important than any child that I may or may not be able to have. My advice to other young women who have severely intermittent periods? TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR! If I wasn't diagnosed so early the outcome may have not been the same.
  3. I have lost 100 pounds in the last two years. The key to my success is to eat less and wait longer between eating. :) I have 63 pounds to go!
  4. I have Adult Attention Deficit Disor
  5. I can (and will) watch reruns Friends or The Simpsons any time, any where.
  6. I worked as a nursing assistant for 6 years. I loved working with Alzheimer's patients and the tips they sometimes left on their dressers. KIDDING! I would never take money from someone with diminished capacity. But they really did try to leave tips. So cute.
  7. In high school I performed in musicals and plays. My favorite was The Music Man and I played Ethel Toffelmier a frumpy 30-something who loves to gossip with the older women in town.
  8. Some people say I'm a picky eater. I say that I just know what I love and don't want to have anything else. I give amazing food recommendations.
  9. I'm really good at starting projects and not finishing them. (see 4)
  10. My favorite flavor of ice cream is Deep Fried Ice Cream. I hope that makes sense. I don't mean the dessert treat that you can get at Mexican restaurants. Its like they took that dessert, threw it into a blender and poured it into a carton. A-mazing. Its sold at Fred Meyer (Kroger). Yumo!
  11. I love DVR. Love.

Kaylynn's Questions:

  1. What is your name?
    • Kathryn Leann but I go by Katie.
  2. What is your quest?
    • To live a happy life surrounded by family and friends.
  3. What is your favorite color?
    • I have such a hard time picking just one! My blog has changed a lot because I couldn't decide on colors, it was just way too busy. But I think I've worked it out. Anyway if I had to say my favorite color is purple. Most def.
  4. If you could marry (or date) a celebrity, who would it be?
    • Probably Seth Rogan. I like my men short, fuzzy and funny.
  5. What's your "go-to" nail color?

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

  7. How did your blog get it's name?
    • Well, at the time there was so much going on in my life that I thought I was going crazy. But things have slowed down some, so I hope to get off the computer eventually and do some crafting.

    • To own a home and be fully sustainable with chickens, goats, fish, gardens, a cow. I can't wait!
  9. What is the best gift you have ever received?
    • My family was poor growing up. My mom couldn't afford super-expensive gifts, but I wanted one thing more than anything else. When I opened my present Christmas morning it was a BOOMBOX WITH A CD PLAYER! You can bet I played my Lion King soundtrack over and over again. It wasn't the most expensive gift I have received, but it was the perfect gift at the time. I felt spoiled.
  10. What do you miss most about being a kid?
    • Being oblivious. Life is really hard. I miss my childhood fog sometimes.
  11. What do you love most about being you?
    • I love recognizing how much I am growing and changing every day!

    • Bananas - Always have always will :)

Rollin' in the Deep

Hey friends!

Trev and I tackled the front flower bed during a sunbreak this afternoon. I think we talked about the previous tenants who were not at all invested in the property (which is what The Landlord needed). They let the space (entire house) go. Ivy snaked under the house and up the rain spouts. We blocked several holes in the foundation. Hopefully we did not lock any critters in there. But I will let the BEFORE pictures speak for themselves:

We dug up three rugs, several wrappers, animal bones, and other odds and ends. There were SO many spiders, potato bugs, a beetles. I hated it, but pushed through the fear and we FINISHED IT!

What a difference just a little elbow grease can make! While we were working, several neighbors stopped to tell us that the house has not looked so good in years. Its so nice to live in a community again. The Big City made us feel so isolated from the rest of the people who love us. Even strangers here want to talk! :)

Weekend Report

Hi Friends!
Found some great deals on new clothes! I haven't been shopping for myself in quite some time.
Trev is working at a hotel, and I was able to sit in the lobby for a bit to people watch.
We stayed with our good friends The Howards. I am not typically a dog person but these two have wiggled and slobbered their way into my heart.
And of course, a girl deserves some pampering once in a while. I love getting a pedicure. Especially when they use the "cheese grater" :)
