Follies & Family

Hi Friends!

How was your weekend? I heard that there was some sort of game on? And it WASN'T the Puppy Bowl?! :)

Trevor and I ventured over the mountains to see my mom perform in a benefit variety show. She was wonderful, of course. Made me cry! I was just so happy to see my mom so happy. Unfortunately flash photography wasn't allowed in the theatre (duh), and my camera gives off an orange light when attempting to take a picture regardless. Boo.

I also got to spend time with my brothers and sister-in-laws.

Would you believe I'm the oldest?

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Hi Friends!

Sorry about the unexpected hiatus. The last week or so has been jam-packed with activities, and I just didn't have time to update here. Good news though - I've got stories!

First things first.

I love my family. A lot. So much it hurts sometimes. They have been there for me when I felt isolated, lost, and so lonely. To show them some well deserved appreciation... and because I knew we would have a kick-ass time... I bought tickets to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra last Friday night.

I felt like I had gone to see Cirque Du Soleil while on mushrooms. The show was THAT amazing. I loved the flaming, giant pocket watch that slowly swung over the stage. But when they were on stages that extended high over the audience, that was phenomenal. I loved it all.

They are doing a world tour right now. Check out TSOTickets.com for their tour dates. I would totally recommend it!

There is more to come about last weekend. But I have to give Trev a hand with the tree. Pictures to come!!

xoxo.

Crafting: Place Mat Pillows

Hi Friends!

My mom picked up two gorgeous place mats for $2.50 from a clearance rack at Walmart. Because they are double thickness with interfacing she asked me to make them into pillows. What a great trick! I never doubted where my craftiness came from. :)

Using a cuticle trimmer, I ripped the seams to make an opening, and stuffed the innards of an old pillow. This is not only the CHEAPEST option, it is also GREEN. I try my best not to throw away clothes, Poly-fill or other fabrics. Most are man made and do not break down in landfills like other garbage does.

Once I stuffed the place mat I closed the opening with the sewing machine.

Cute AND easy, huh? I'm going to take them to my mom's tomorrow.

What are your fun plans for tomorrow?

xoxo.

Templates and Turn Offs

Hi Friends!

Long time no see! I have been feeling a little under the weather, and also working on a new blog template for my favorite fair-weather friend, Milagro Speaks!

I have also been having issues with my laptop as it loves to turn off on its own at very inconvenient times. You know, in the middle of editing a photo, when attempting to add new fonts, or when I'm just about done with a long blog post in NotePad and I haven't yet saved it or moved it over to blogger. Awesome. :)

I should be getting my severance check soon and will be getting a new computer then. I can't hardly wait!

I'm Just Mad About... Saturday!

Hi Friends!

I am just mad about tomato pincushions! I'm hoping Trev will take me to the pumpkin patch today. I am also typing with just one hand because a precious kitten is sleeping on top of my left hand. I'm pretty impressed with myself. Have a wonderful day!!

The Parental Units' first meeting

We've FINALLY gotten our internet up and running. No more tethering for me!

Mom is coming over today and staying through the long weekend. She and I can get pretty crazy, so I can't wait to see what the weekend has in store. I'm pretty sure that the top of her list will be new curtains in the kitchen. Have I shown you those? They're terrible.

They came with the place of course. If it were me though I would have taken them down rather than leaving them up, or not replacing them. The Landlord is fortunate that I am able to see things beyond outside apperances. I can see things for what they COULD be, not neccessiarly what they ARE.

Speaking of which, Trev and I went to the Habitat for Humanity Store yesterday and scored some pretty sweet patio furniture for The Parents impending arrival: a fun bistro table and two vintage kitchen chairs totalling only $16!

Trev and I have known each other for about 6 years so it is crazy to me that this will be The Parental Units' first meeting. They both live out of town though and they are both social butterfiles, so it doesn't surprise me that this has taken so long.

Hope you are having a fantastic Friday!!
