Hi friends!
Yesterday, the first day of 2013, was a beautiful day... from what I could see through squinted eyes. I was unable to enjoy it as I over-indulged on NYE. Normally, I'm not much of a drinker. But I bought Skinnygirl Cocktails White Cranberry Cosmo on a whim a few weeks ago and decided that NYE was as good a time as any to drink up. Initially I thought it was a mixer, and poured a shot of vodka into my glass on top of the SG. Hm. Check that! There's already alcohol. Needless to say I was a down for the count and unable to post yesterday. I'm awesome like that.
Without further adieu, my 2013 goals!

Totally Random Thursday
1. I'm sorry I've been such a pooper about posting. Truth be told I got super irritated with crafting. I totally underestimated how long each craft would take. I so wanted to bring a new craft each day, but for right now I think that I will commit to posting a craft as often as possible.
2. In much more exciting news... WE GOT NEW FURNITURE!!
And best of all? THEY'RE ELECTRIC!! *sigh* Los gatitos están cómodos.
3. Today I got some RedBull in the mail as a perk from Klout. I just love Klout because they offer freebies to Social Media Mavens like me! :)
Seriously though, its awesome. And "RedBull gives you wiiiiiiings." Who couldn't use a pair? I'm giving them to Trev when he's working the night shift at the hotel. I'm not personally a fan, but happy to provide Trev's review.
4. We get some amazing sunsets in my neck of the woods. Here's a shot from the other night from my backyard:

And that's.... a wrap!

Fall Fabric Brooch
Hi Friends!
I finished up today's craft earlier than I am posting. However, The Landlord had to come over to inspect the ceiling. Last week's rain caused a bubble to form in the kitchen. Apparently that's where the old fireplace used to be and it causes leaks every where. Would have been good to know...
On to our craft: Fabric Brooch
What I used:
- 2 complementing cotton fabric scraps (had on hand)
- 1 piece of felt ($0.34 @ Joann's)
- Sewing needle and thread
- Scissors
- Safety pin
I cut a 10x2 inch strip from one fabric and a 5-inch circle out of the second. Then, using a 1-inch button I traced and cut out 8 circles from felt.
Working with the felt circles first, fold one circle in half,
and then in half again.
Whip a couple of stitches where the two ends of felt meet. Once you have created 7 "petals" start stitching them to the 8th felt circle.
Set the flower aside and fold the 10 inch piece of fabric in half with wrong sides together. Baste a stitch along the raw edges, gather and set aside.
With the circle of fabric I ran a basting stitch around the perimeter and gathered. For what ever reason I neglected to take pictures of these steps. But you can take a look at my Fabric Pumpkins post for my visual learners. :) Flatten out the fabric with the gathering in the middle and stitch the gathers together.
I cut a small square of felt and whip stitched the safety pin to it. You can use simple stitches or fabric glue to attach the different pieces of the brooch together. I sewed the pin onto the brooch, but it flops around a lot so I would recommend fabric glue or a glue gun.
And there you have it! A super-fun, pretty easy brooch. :) Let me know if you have any questions!
xoxo.

Weekend Review
Hi Friends!
What a relaxing weekend! We celebrated my mom's birthday on Thursday. Mom thought that I would be coming over on Friday. I wasn't feeling well earlier last week and told her I would be arriving late. She was SO surprised! My sis-in-law made a lovely dinner. Roast chicken, creamy mashed potatoes, and my cousin made a delicious seasonal vegetable salad dressed with a light vinaigrette (can't take full credit for that description, we're a pretty hilarious bunch).
